The Star City Buzz
It’s been a busy, or should I say a buzzy few days in Star City as celebrity watchers continue to reel from the break-up of their favorite couple. Felicity Smoak has been seeking comfort in work on the top floor of Palmer Tech’s flashy high-rise while the ever-handsome and broody Oliver Queen has disappeared underground. Meanwhile, those looking forward to a spring Olicity wedding, including the sister-of-the-groom and mother-of-the-bride, put their hopes on hold as Brie Larvan swarmed into town.

All eyes were on the business district where Larvan was holding the Palmer Tech board hostage. Paparazzi confirmed that Felicity Smoak’s mother, Donna along with Thea Queen was inside the building with the company’s brilliant CEO. One can guess that they were there to comfort Smoak after her recent breack-up break-up with former mayoral candidate Oliver Queen.
As for the jilted playboy, Oliver Queen has been spotted more than once in recent days with old-flame Laurel Lance, sending Olicity watchers into a tizzy. Will this once dynamic-duo (dubbed with the tongue-twisty “Lauriver” moniker) give it another go? An anonymous call to the Buzz Line says Lance has been a great friend to Queen, but as a couple, they are more fizzle than sizzle. Supposedly Lance gave Ollie a much needed kick in the ass regarding his lying lies in Olicity’s rumored baby mama drama.

The Green Arrow, who sources say, is the biggest Olicity shipper in town, stormed Palmer Tech to rescue the trio of lovely ladies trapped inside. In the process, one of Larvan’s robo-bees stung the hero and, rumor has it, he called in some terrific help to get out of the sticky situation. A glass-breaking shrill was heard near the Glades and soon after the Green Arrow was spotted heading back in the direction of Palmer Tech. Sources have yet to confirm the connection, if any, between the two reports.
Board members tell me that Ms. Smoak and Ms. Queen stormed the boardroom to rescue them, directing the group to safety in a panic room underneath Palmer Tech. Speculation continues as to why a building formerly owned by Queen Consolidated has such a bunker. Several of the male board members noted that they found the vivacious Donna Smoak captivating. Her boyfriend, the hunky Quentin Lance, scowled in response as he quickly ushered the beauty from the building. While no nuptials can replace Olicity’s in our dreams, perhaps instead there will be a Smoakin’ Lance wedding this spring. One can hope.

Police reports say that Ms. Smoak dealt the electrifying blow to Larvan’s Bee Man, thus neutralizing its pint-sized operator, and that the Green Arrow was on hand to assist. What would Oliver Queen say if he saw the way the hero looked at his former fiancé? One officer said that as he arrived on the scene it sounded like Smoak was thanking the Green Arrow for coming to her rescue. He replied in low tones, “You never have to thank me.” Hmm.

In the midst of this drama, a jailhouse tipster informed me that Damien Darhk has been up to no good as he awaits trial in what appears to be a minimum security prison. That notorious master mind of The Undertaking, Malcolm Merlyn, slips in and out of said prison at will, attempting to marshal Darhk’s “resources” to his defense. With Darhk’s nasty penchant for offing his enemies Darth Vader-style, the former Ra’s al Ghul is having a hard time assisting the blue-eyed demon. Darhk suffered a prison beat down from two alleged assailants who later went missing. Despite my request for an interview, Mr. Darhk and his prison mate remain mum on the details.

After Star City’s finest took Brie Larvan away, Felicity Smoak, much to my editor’s delight, consented to a quick interview. Smoak said that despite Larvan’s criminal actions, she has sympathy for the young woman who suffers from a spinal cord injury similar to her own. In response to her evening ordeal, Smoak plans to make the miracle chip that allows her to walk available to as many people as possible, no matter the cost. She directed me to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation for more information.
All of Star City is grateful to the Green Arrow and Felicity Smoak for squashing the Bug-Eyed Bandit. Now we can get back to more pressing matters – such as asking when, not if, Olicity will reunite. Surely they must. Think of all the paparazzi and gossip columnists who will be out of a job if they don’t!
